Common Questions:
How does Copilot use OpenAI externally (per the slide) but keep the proprietary information internal?

Answer: At a high level, Microsoft hosts its own instance of OpenAI Models in the Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform, which is separate from the public ChatGPT. The data sent to the Microsoft instance for responses, is also separate from the Microsoft-hosted Training Models. Therefore, your data is kept internally to your organisation.
Do I need to be exposing my data endpoints to Copilot to maximise the quality of responses I get from it?
Answer: Copilot will provide you the quality and completeness of responses depending on your data and the systems it has access to. If you have crucial data in non-Microsoft 365 apps, then you should prioritise connecting these other systems via the relevant Copilot edition (e.g. Copilot for Sales to connect Salesforce, etc.) or connect/design/extend your own Copilot using Copilot Studio. Can Copilot interrogate/integrate with NVivo? How about Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT?
Answer: Yes, assuming third party vendors have modern industry standard APIs or Microsoft-compatible integrations that surface your relevant data, it should be possible to connect via creating a customised Copilot using Copilot Studio. If a third party vendor does not, and instead has a legacy or non-standard integration endpoints, it may still be possible however it would require a more advanced custom integration by a specialist. What processes do you follow to ensure data security, privacy and the correct role access?

Answer: At a high level, it starts with the Data Strategy to set the course for how your organisation approaches its use of data, followed by introducing a Data Governance Framework and the supporting organisation structure, followed by implementing Data Security protocols.
