Technical Consultant

Key Responsibilities: 

• Contribute to pre-sales activities by supporting discovery, shaping solution concepts, preparing estimates, and providing clear technical input that helps clients understand Solentive’s capabilities and the value of proposed solutions. 

• Lead and support technical discovery workshops that clarify business needs, define success criteria, surface risks and assumptions, and build alignment across client and delivery teams. 

• Gather, analyse, and document requirements with precision, translating client needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and solution artefacts. 

• Own the technical design and delivery of assigned projects or workstreams, ensuring outcomes are delivered with consistency, structure, and discipline in line with agreed scope, timeframes, and budgets. 

• Design fit-for-purpose solutions that balance business outcomes, technical requirements, user needs, and commercial realities without overengineering. 

• Manage client communication professionally and proactively, explaining technical concepts in accessible language, setting clear expectations, and maintaining strong working relationships throughout delivery. 

• Produce high-quality documentation, including requirements, designs, estimates, solution decisions, risks, assumptions, and delivery updates, so work can be executed and supported with confidence. 

• Develop realistic estimates for consulting activities by identifying knowns, unknowns, dependencies, assumptions, inclusions, and exclusions. 

• Support change and adoption activities by helping users understand new systems or processes and contributing to smooth implementation outcomes. 

• Proactively identify delivery risks, scope changes, inefficiencies, and optimisation opportunities, escalating appropriately and contributing to strong project governance. 

• Apply AI-assisted tools appropriately to improve delivery efficiency, documentation quality, problem solving, and solution exploration - while validating outputs to ensure they meet standards and are fit-for-purpose. 

• Build trusted client relationships through sound advice, quality delivery, and a practical consulting approach, while recognising and raising opportunities for additional value, optimisation, or follow-on work. 

• Contribute to continuous improvement, internal initiatives, and the development of repeatable delivery approaches that strengthen Solentive’s capability over time. 

Essential Skills: 

• 5+ years’ experience delivering client-facing consulting or technical solutions, with the ability to independently own projects or workstreams and deliver strong outcomes. 

• Strong technical consulting capability, with the ability to understand client needs, define requirements, and recommend practical, fit-for-purpose solutions within agreed scope. 

• Demonstrated experience in technical design, solution delivery, and implementation across modern business technology environments. 

• Deep experience facilitating workshops, strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences. 

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to breaking down issues, identifying risks and assumptions, and escalating complexity when needed. 

• Proven ability to estimate accurately, manage competing priorities, and deliver quality work on time and within budget. 

• High attention to detail and strong consulting discipline, including clear documentation, traceability, and accountability for delivery quality. 

• Sound commercial awareness, including an understanding of the impact of rework, scope creep, project constraints, and delivery trade-offs. 

• A collaborative, self-motivated approach and the ability to contribute positively to team outcomes, peer review, and continuous improvement. 

• A growth mindset and commitment to ongoing development across emerging technologies, particularly in automation, data, and AI. 

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence others and build consensus. 

• Experience in commercial, client-facing consulting environments where stakeholder management, project ownership, and delivery quality are critical to success. 

• Relevant tertiary qualification in IT, Business, or equivalent practical experience. 

• Hold, or be willing to work towards, relevant Microsoft certifications across areas such as Power Platform, Azure AI, Azure Data, and Dynamics 365. 

Experience in the following areas is highly desirable but not essential: 

• Experience implementing solutions using Fabric, API Management, Function Apps, Logic Apps, and Graph API. 

• Data engineering and data migration experience, including SQL and NoSQL databases, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Power BI. 

• Software engineering capability, including Agile delivery, CI/CD, Git-based repositories, .NET 5.0+, C# 9.0+, SQL and NoSQL storage, and RESTful APIs. 

• Experience with project delivery frameworks such as Agile and Scrum, and with content or knowledge management tools such as SharePoint or Atlassian Confluence. 

• Certifications or formal learning in Generative AI and Machine Learning. 

• Experience implementing Business Rule Management (BRE) platforms.
